Kiwi Starter Kit Review

2 Mins read

In for review this week is the Kiwi Starter Kit from Italian manufacturer Kiwi Vapor.

The Kiwi is a new e-cigarette that’s been surrounded by quite a lot of hype, so I was certainly keen to give it a try.

Seeing what fresh innovations and new ideas are being brought to the table by new products is always interesting and I love the direction this device went in.

Specifications:

  • Battery capacity: 400mAh
  • Coil: 1.2ohms
  • E-liquid capacity: 1.6ml (approx)
  • Charging: USB-C

Right off the bat, the Kiwi I reviewed came with a lot of handy extras, including a plastic drip tip and some cigarette filter-like tips (which I’ll talk more about later).

I also received a nifty power bank that you can use to charge the device and, of course, the vape itself is included as well.

The Kiwi pen was very small and unassuming, being compact enough to fit into most pockets.

The pod on top was clear and easily replaced through a magnetic system and strangely, there were no buttons or switches on the body of the device at all.

Instead, it was completely draw-activated; a great feature for beginners, as it helps the transition from smoking traditional cigarettes to vaping.

The pod contained a 1.2ohm non-replaceable coil, which means you have to swap out the whole pod when the coil burns out.

But on the positive side, they are really easy to refill – you simply pull the pod out and find the rubber bung on the side – and it holds around 1.6ml of e-liquid, another great feature for new vapers.

When you clip the pod back onto the pen you get a small vibration from the device that lets you know it’s been connected properly.

Battery Life

The pen houses a 400mAh battery, which is a little low compared to some other pens on the market…but the power bank would help to combat that issue.

I was able to recharge the Kiwi pen around four times when the power bank is full, meaning I didn’t get caught out with an empty device.

How do the Kiwi cotton tips work?

The other unique aspect of the Kiwi is the cigarette filter drip tips – there are some included with the device but these can also be purchased in packets of different varieties and sizes.

Simply slot them into the top of the device, puff through them and it really does feel like you’re smoking a cigarette rather than a vape…brilliant for those who are in the early days of quitting.

It’s another great idea from Kiwi and I really appreciate that they are putting so much work in to easing the switching process.

How does the Kiwi perform?

In terms of performance, I was thoroughly impressed with the Kiwi, the 1.2ohm coil handled any 50/50 juice I threw at it without issue.

I would definitely recommend sticking to 50/50 with this device as I don’t think it would handle anything thicker.

On average, I was able to put around 25ml of liquid through the pods before any sort of flavour drop off…pretty impressive!

Overall thoughts on the Kiwi Starter Kit

I think overall I have to commend Kiwi Vapor on developing such a user-friendly device for beginners, I really think it could convince a lot of smokers to make the switch.

Pros

  • Easy to use
  • Power bank included
  • Cigarette filter drips tips

Cons

  • 400mah Battery (Not that it matters if you have the power bank)
