It’s only Monday but there are already three big vape news stories doing the rounds this week.

In Scotland, a Daily Record investigation has found that several ‘rogue’ vape shops are illegally selling low-THC ‘cannabis flower’.

There is a lot of confusion around the legality of these products in the UK. We’ll be covering this in more depth in issue 3 of Vapouround CBD.

Meanwhile, in the US, the FDA has sent warning letters to companies found to be using social media influencers to advertise their products.

Acting FDA Commissioner Ned Sharpless said in a statement:

“It’s critical we ensure manufacturers, retailers and others are including the required health warning about nicotine’s addictive properties on packages and advertisements – especially on social media platforms popular with kids”

Also in the US, the Daily Beast reports that JUUL has began a lobbying campaign designed to reach the Congressional Black Caucus.

Politics editor Sam Stein writes:

“The vaping industry’s unrivaled leader, Juul, is making a huge push to ingratiate itself with America’s communities of color, hoping that doing so will win it critical allies within the Democratic Party who can help it navigate a high-stakes legislative and regulatory minefield.”

Keep an eye on the blog for more news as the week progresses.
