The vape industry has experienced an increase in sales as customers turn to online stores during lockdown, the UK Vaping Industry Association (UKVIA) has said.

Despite the closure of thousands of ‘non-essential’ specialist retail stores, there are still online specialists offering home delivery.

The change in business structure and home delivery procedures have meant easier access for customers and ensured former smokers are not tempted to return to cigarettes and tobacco.

Changes include increased warehouse spaces, the establishment of new customer service teams and online or telephone advice options for vapers and smokers.

UKVIA director John Dunne, director said:

“It’s great to hear that supplies are getting through to smokers and vapers despite shops being closed.

“We respect the government’s decision for the lockdown but it’s vital that smokers and vapers can still access vape products as they are 95% less harmful than conventional cigarettes.

“The huge response from the vaping sector to turn things around in a matter of weeks so that vaping products are available to people across the country represents a monumental effort and reflects the entrepreneurial and agile nature of the sector.

“Vapers and smokers should also not forget that supermarkets and corner shops remain open and will be selling vape products.”

The UKVIA have called on the UK government to allow vape stores to open but have asked vapers to respect the current lockdown rules.
