Hardware Previews: Uwell Caliburn G, Aspire Paradox and Lostvape Grus

By Staff Editor 5th October 2020 3 Mins

If the last few weeks are anything to go by, it seems manufacturers are trying to make up for lost time with their releases in the final stretch of 2020. Today we’re taking a look at the Uwell Caliburn G, Aspire Paradox and Lostvape Grus.

Uwell Caliburn G – Reclaiming The Throne?

Uwell Caliburn G Specs:

Dimensions: 108.3mm*22.5mm*12.6mm
Materials: Aluminium, PCTG
Battery capacity: 690mAh internal cell
E-liquid capacity: 2ml
Power output: 18W maximum
Weight: 60g
Charging: USB-C

Price: TBC (pre-order notification)

Uwell revealed the Caliburn G this week, a long-awaited sequel to their most successful device ever.

The Uwell Caliburn G is a clear response to the number of critically acclaimed pods and miniature AIOs that have recently been released, taking chunks out of the original Caliburn’s market share.

The device features a larger internal battery, dual airflow system and trades disposable pods for replaceable coils, making it an AIO. Early images show coils that look similar to the Uwell Valyrian pod system and we’re hoping for cross-compatibility, since those coils produce excellent flavour.

Considering how successful the original Caliburn has been over the last year, we’re willing to bet that the Uwell Caliburn G will become one of the most popular vape devices of 2020.

Aspire x Noname Mods Paradox – High End Design, Affordable Price

Aspire Paradox Specs:

Dimensions: 78mm*42mm*27mm
Battery capacity: 1x external 18650 cell
Power output: 1W-75W
Output modes: Variable wattage, variable voltage, bypass
Weight: 164g
Charging: 2A USB-C charging
Price: £65

Industry giants Aspire have enjoyed lots of success with their Prestige series so far. The initiative sees them collaborate with various designers to produce devices with a high-end look and feel and affordable price tag.

The newest addition to this line up is the Aspire X Noname Mods Paradox. This is an ultra-compact 18650 device, with a hidden screen and highly ergonomic shape for comfortable daily use.

The Aspire Paradox is an iteration of Noname Mod’s Saudade mod, which usually commands a price of several hundred Euros, due to small batch sizes and the use of luxury materials.

Aspire have already proven themselves to be an excellent partner to smaller companies, with the recent Nautilus GT tank and MIXX mod being widely regarded as some of the best affordable devices on the market.

The Aspire Paradox looks to be a fantastic choice for low-mid wattage vapers who enjoy a minimalist aesthetic.

Lostvape Grus – A Return To Form?

Lostvape Grus Specs:

Dimensions: 94.6mm*40.5mm*30.5mm
Materials: Zinc alloy, stainless steel
Battery capacity: 1x 21700/20700/18650 external cell
Power output: 5W-100W
Charging: USB-C
Weight: 176g
Price: $49.99 (available here)

Lostvape built its brand on premium devices aimed at enthusiasts but in recent years, they’ve focused on pod systems and AIOs. The Lostvape Grus appears to be a return to form.

With a utilitarian industrial design, zinc alloy chassis and 21700 compatibility, the Lostvape Grus should pique the interest of the hobbyist community. For now, the device is being released with a proprietary chipset to achieve a more affordable price point, though we may see a premium version later on using a DNA board, to appease Lostvape’s traditional customer base.

At the time of writing, the Lostvape Grus is already available in a variety of colours and finishes and its generously sized 510 plate looks to accommodate atomisers up to 30mm diameter, without any overhang.

If the build quality can live up to expectations, The Lostvape Grus could be a compelling option for mid-high wattage vapers.
