The third annual Vapouround Awards took place last Friday as the B2B day of Vaper Expo UK drew to a close at Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre.

As day one of the UK and Europe’s largest vape expo wound down, the stage was set and the who’s who of the e-cigarette industry gathered for this exclusive event.

Over the course of the evening, 21 first place awards were presented to winners from every corner of the globe, and right here in the UK. Second and third places were also recognised, with clear competition on the cards for next year.

The very foundation of the awards is to make them accessible and transparent each year, and we feel we have achieved this yet again. But the main mission is to celebrate all the industry has achieved year-on-year.

The awards were separated into four categories.

The judge’s category consisted of a panel of independent judges who came to the Derby Vapouround Lounge and spent four days blind-tasting thousands of juice entries.

The readers’ awards saw thousands of people voting online to decide the likes of the best overall juice and other prestigious awards.

We decided the Vapouround Awards would be for Innovation of the Year and Best Trade Show Stand. We wanted to have the final say on these, as no one goes to more expos or sees more innovation than Vapouround.

And finally, the industry awards were voted for by industry leaders, many of whom attended on the night.

Last year, we as an industry were on the verge of the implementation of the Tobacco Products Directive. This year, further challenges have presented but we have continued to thrive, thanks to the strength, devotion and capacity of our colleagues and partners. It’s Vapouround’s hope that the awards will continue to grow as we do, and as the industry continues to explore new heights.

Commenting on the third occasion of the awards, Vapouround founder and editor-in-chief Paul Caplin said:

“We welcomed 450 of the biggest players from this rapidly growing global industry to an unforgettable night. It’s a night we never want to end!

The Awards are about blowing off steam, celebrating goals and networking, but more than anything they’re about advocacy. If you were at our awards, you are an advocate for the vape industry, which is a large group of people from around the world who want to help others, smokers, live a better quality of life.

As Vapouround Magazine prepares for its third birthday in August, we anticipate bigger things to come and we have a number of exciting developments to look forward to, which will be announced in due course.”

Hosting for the third year in a row was Ashley Hansen of Strawberry Queen who travelled to the Vaper Expo UK from Los Angeles. Joining Ashley at the podium was Johnnie Lovell of Bournemouth’s BHVape. Having co-hosted the awards last year with Ashley, this was a special night for Johnnie, who was recently signed to the magazine’s YouTube channel.

Entertaining on the night was Nick Einhorn, Vapouround’s go-to magician while Ian Irvine commanded the stage as the night’s comedian.

The Vapouround Awards 2018 were officially sponsored by Vampire Vape. Vapouround would like to thank the companies that sponsored individual awards. The 2019 official sponsor was announced on the night as Vape Dinner Lady, and we look forward to working with them in the next 12 months.
